The Coast
Each of these destinations are around 1.5-2 hrs from Portland. The weather on the coast can be very different from the city. Be sure to check the forecast.
Cannon Beach-Idyllic beach town with an array of restaurants, shops, and views. Walk along the beach for a stunning view of haystack rocks. MacGregor’s Whiskey Bar is one of our favorite spots.
Astoria-Located at confluence of the Pacific Ocean and the Columbia River, Astoria is a fun coastal town with a historic downtown district. For dinner or drinks check out Ft. George Brewery and Buoy.
Pacific City-A low key beach community home to Pelican Brewery. The parking lot next to the brewery gives you access to the beach and sand cliff with scenic views. Head over to Bob Straub State Park for a long walk down the beach.
Mt. Hood

Zig-Zag Ranger Station-When it comes to hiking on Mt. Hood, there’s something for everyone. Check-in with the rangers at the Zig Zag station to find one that’s right for you. If you’re a cross-country skier, you can get information about snow parks here too. You can find groceries and restaurants in the community just before the ranger station.
Timberline Lodge-Built in 1938 as a Works Progress Administration project, Timberline Lodge is a must see work of PNW craftsmanship.
